Wacky Wednesday Glass Wall

Wacky Wednesday Glass Wall

A common problem for beginning dancers is keeping their posture straight during pliés. It is human nature to drop the torso forward as the knees bend – or so it would appear.

To prevent this dropping forward of the body, have students imagine a glass wall that extends from the floor to above their heads. It is so close to them that their noses almost touch it.

Now they must plié without their nose or head crashing into the glass and cracking it.

From the Big Blue Book of Ballet Secrets
Ballet Secret #2jjj:
“Imagine a glass wall in front of your nose during pliés.“
