Mad Monday
Long Side Short Side
Ah, those
pesky sickled feet – a constant problem for many dancers. Especially when attempting
to improve the range of a pointed foot, a sickled foot is often the result.
This is
because there is a greater ability for stretch on the little toe side of the
foot. The little toe, in effect, tries to take over. Instead, think of
stretching the big toe side. This will keep the little toe side in its
proper place, and actually result in a foot that is correctly, and evenly pointed.
Sickling can
also be caused by a lack of rotation in the working hip, so be aware of this,
too.
There you
have it. The long and the short of it.

Secret #3u:
“Think of stretching the big toe side longer
than the little toe side.”
