Fun Friday
Face
With all the
emphasis on legs, feet, arms, extensions, etc., there is another, often neglected
area: the face.
It is what
most audience members look at, and is probably the most important part of any
dancer’s technique. Facial expressions can make or break a performance.
Each
situation requires a different expression, and within any combination or piece
of choreography there are a variety of expressions. The best thing to remember
is that expressions should always be natural. No forced, stiff smiles, or
lifted eyebrows – or, gasp! – deer in the headlights look.
Don’t forget
to pay attention to your face!

“Be aware of
the high notes, of the blissful faces and their soft messages, and listen for
the silent message of a highly decorated gift.”
