Wacky
Wednesday Ripples
I’ve talked
about bourreés before, about how the back leg pushes and how the legs shouldn’t
come apart. It should look like the dancer is floating across the stage, and
not driving down a gravel road.
Another area
of interest in bourreés: the feet. When an accomplished dancer executes a
series of brilliant bourreés, her feet appear to ripple. This is because she is
“rolling through” her toes with each tiny step. It looks like she has no bones
in her feet! Awesome.
This is the
ultimate goal. Rippling bourreés!

“In perfect
bourreés the feet appear to ripple.”
