Wild Wednesday Ski Poles
I’ve done other blogs
about piqués, and how the pique leg must be straight. Absolutely, unequivocally
straight.
Here is another image
designed to help keep the piqué leg straight: Imagine that the piqué leg is a
ski pole or a hiking stick. Not only straight, but strong and straight and
designed to help support the body weight efficiently.
When the piqué leg is actually
as rock solid as a hiking stick, the dancer has to lift higher than
imagined (there’s another blog about that),
so the knee won’t wink (yet another recent blog). The leg will be as solid
as a wooden or steel pole.
Simple. Effective.
From the Big Blue Book of Ballet Secrets:
Ballet Secret # 16kk:
“Imagine
any piqué leg as a ski pole or hiking stick.”
