Mad Monday Point of No Return
There is a point of no return in everything. For example,
balancing one count more than you should, or attempting an extra pirouette when you shouldn’t. The
point of no return means that there is no way to save the ending and it will
look bad. Scary.
This is not to say that dancers shouldn’t push past their
limits, because they should, especially in class. But on stage, knowing where
the point of no return is assures that there is a beautiful finish to
everything. And that’s important. It makes it appear as though the dancer is
doing things effortlessly, and that is always our goal.
So be aware of the point of no return.
