Sunday Tincture of Time
Most of us have heard the phrase: “Will it matter in five or
ten years?” This question is a way of putting things (worries) in perspective.
If it won’t matter in five years it isn’t very important and certainly not
worth expending a lot of mental energy on.
Another phrase I love is “the tincture of time”. In the past
(and sometimes, today), medicine was often delivered as a tincture. A tincture is: “a solution of alcohol containing, animal,
vegetable or chemical drugs “. It is taken in very small quantities – usually only
a drop or two.
The tincture of time
therefore, is another way of saying let
time take care of it, or give it some
time. Many medical conditions will go away without intervention, given
enough time. Most problems, worries and concerns will go away too – if given
the tincture of time.

Motivational Secret #37:
“The tincture of time
has a way of showing us what really matters.”
