Fun Friday Alphabet Blocks
Here we go again with yet another image for posture! Today
the image involves alphabet blocks. You know, those small cubes with letters on
the side…
Well, imagine that your body is made up of three of these
blocks. One for the pelvis, one for the rib cage and one for the head. You
could add smaller blocks in between if you like, but the three main players are
the important ones.
When you build a small tower with these three blocks, you
need to line them up neatly: one on top of the other to prevent crashing. And we
all know there is no crashing in ballet.
It’s the same with dance posture: these three areas must be neatly aligned on
top of one another – not only to prevent crashing, but also to look good!
From the Big Blue Book of Ballet Secrets:
Ballet Secret #1hhh:
“Imagine your posture
stacked like alphabet blocks.”

“There is nothing wrong with loving your
work and wanting to apply yourself to it. But there is so much more to life.
Balance is what is important, maintaining balance.”
