Sunday Carrot
Back in the day, farmers used to get their mules to walk forward by dangling a carrot in front of their eyes. This keep the animal moving down the road.
Well, we all need our “carrots”: reasons to pursue our passions. When I was still performing, one question that frequently arose during lecture demonstrations was: “Why do you dance?” It was a simple question, but one that was difficult to answer succinctly. One dancer’s answer is likely to be very different than another’s.
Why do you dance? The reasons you do are your carrot(s), the driving force that motivates you to move on down the road. Yet, many dancers have never really thought about it. Do that today. Identify your carrot(s), and you will find new motivation.
