Fun Friday Snaps
Earlier this week ( http://balletwebb.blogspot.com/2014/05/monday-buttons.html ) I talked about the three buttons that must
be used for good posture. Today I’m
adding one other element: a snap.
This snap is located in the center of the lower chest, at
the base of the rib cage. This area is frequently,
and incorrectly, opened up – especially when the arms are overhead. Opening this area causes the spine to arch
and effectively ruins the posture.
So imagine a snap located at exactly this point. Keep it snapped at all times, except during
port de bras back. It is easy for a snap
to pop open, so a dancer must be constantly vigilant.
So to “dress well” for ballet, a dancer must button three
buttons and snap one snap!
