Wild Weds Rocket Blast

Wild Weds Rocket Blast

I’ve talked about how the feet work when leaving the floor – like peeling a stamp off an envelope or rolling through the foot.  This becomes even more important when jumping.

The feet are the last thing that propels the dancer into space.  It is as if the feet are the rockets that launch the astronaut (dancer) into orbit.  With this in mind, it helps to picture each toe as an individual rocket booster complete with flames shooting out the back.  The more power in the boosters, the greater the lift.

Whooooosh!  A perfect lift-off!

From the Big Blue Book of Ballet Secrets:

Secret #16c:
“When jumping, imagine the toes as fiery rocket boosters.”

Quote of the Day:
“If you believe you can, you probably can.  If you believe you won’t, you most assuredly won’t.  Belief is the ignition switch that gets you off the launching pad.”
