Sunday Happy or Unhappy
A student of mine mentioned how worried she was about an
upcoming audition. She was afraid that she would fail. Hmmm. I’ve done several blogs about these negative thoughts
and ways to overcome them.
The important word here is “fail”. It is a negative thought
and the work required to think about it, worry about it, and obsess over it is
the same amount of work it takes to replace it with another word, or thought: a
positive one.
As far as things like auditions go, the work necessary to
succeed or fail has already happened -
years before. The preparation has already been done. That part is over. The
only thing that can be accomplished now is
to have a good mindset (a positive one), and go forward. Work on that – the amount of effort required is
the same.
Positive thoughts or negative thoughts – the amount of
effort is the same.
From the Big Blue Book of Ballet Secrets:
Motivational Secret #39:
“Whether you make yourself unhappy or happy, the amount of effort is the
same.”
