Mad Monday Red “X” Spots
There are certain targets in ballet technique. These targets
can be imagined as drawing a giant red “X” on the spot, similar to an X on a
treasure map, or as a clue to a geocaching site.
One of these Red X sites is the spot on the knee where the
foot is placed in a retiré. It could be on the front, side or back of the knee, but
each spot is specific. Any deviation
from these Xs would put the foot in the wrong place.
Another X is one I’ve talked about before: the place in
front of the lower ribs where the arms in fifth en avant (or first) must be
placed. There’s a big red X there.
There are others. Go on a treasure hunt and find them!
From the Big Blue Book of Ballet Secrets:
Ballet Secret #10fff:
“There are many different red “X” spots.”
