Wild Wednesday Neon
A common problem with posture is often rounded shoulders,
not only for dancers, but for everyone.
I blogged before (http://balletwebb.blogspot.com/2013/10/saturday-sunshine.html)
about having sunshine radiate from the upper chest, and today’s image is along
that same line. It is important to keep
the upper part of the torso open, but without arching the back (another common
postural problem).
To help with this, imagine a flashing neon sign located
across the upper chest. It can be any
color, or colors, and/or it could be a sign that spells something out, like
“Sparkle”, “Eat at Joe’s”... whatever
you like. If the shoulders round forward
at all, it interrupts the path of the neon light, so the shoulders and the
collar bones must remain open.

Secret #1w:
“To prevent rounded shoulders, imagine a neon sign on the upper chest.”
