Wild Wednesday Blips
When dancers perform a petit allegro combination, it is
sometimes a problem to maintain the height and rhythm of each jump. Sometimes the first jumps will be high and
the next ones droopy and off count. This
usually happens when the dancer is unsure of the steps, or is thinking too hard
about what comes next.
Most small jump combinations maintain a consistent rhythm
and height of each jump. To keep this
constant and to maintain the musicality, think about the blips on a heart monitor.
Each one is the same they have a steady
rhythm (otherwise the patient is in trouble).
So during the next petit allegro combination, remember the
blips!
From the Big Blue Book of Ballet Secrets:
Secret #15e:
“The jumps of a petit
allegro should be as consistent as the blips on a heart monitor.”
