Fun Friday Bald
Every dancer has a unique way - or ways - of preparing for
a performance. There are many humorous devices as well as practical ones.
One funny way is the imagine that everyone
in the audience is bald. Picture it. All those heads standing out in the
darkness of the theater. It is good for a smile, and smiling will calm you
down.
Acoording to
legend, prankster William Horace de Vere Cole bought tickets for particular seats at a performance and gave
them to eight bald men whose heads, each painted with a single letter, spelled
out a particular word. What word it was varies with each telling of the story.
True? Perhaps.
At any rate, imagining funny things
can help calm performance jitters.

Blue Book of Ballet Secrets
Secret #29c:
“To calm performance jitters, imagine everyone in the
audience is bald.”
