Mad Monday Magic Thread
Here we go again with yet another image for good
posture! Can there ever be enough? I think not.
Today it is the Magic Thread. This thread runs up the inside of the spine
and exits through the top of the head.
It continues onward to infinity (it’s magic, remember). The dancer feels as though the thread is
gently pulling them upward, away from gravity.
This gentle pull should lift and straighten the posture, automatically
producing the correct alignment of the body for ballet.
So imagine the Magic Thread as soon as you step to the
barre. It wouldn't hurt to use it in
everyday life as well!
From the Big Blue Book of Ballet Secrets:
Secret #1ee:
“Imagine a magic thread running up the spine and out through the top of
the head.”

of the Day:
“Parents are like shuttles on a loom.
They join the threads of the past with threads of the future and leave their
own bright patterns as they go.”
