Sensational Saturday Saturation
Have you ever taken a class and felt like nothing you did
worked – at all? Me too. This is a common phenomenon, and it happens to all
humans, not just dancers.
It is what I like to call the Saturation Point. It is as
though your brain and body have absorbed everything humanly possible, and now the
organism needs time to sort and file all the information and sensations that
have been encountered. Until this house
cleaning process is finished, nothing else will work. Sigh.
So. On those days when the balances go awry, and multiple
pirouettes don’t happen, allow your body and mind a chance to regroup. Don’t
panic. It’s normal. Tomorrow things will be back in their rightful place and
all will be well again – and sometimes even better.
From the Big Blue Book of Ballet Secrets:
Ballet Statute #77
“Every dancer has a saturation point."

Quote of the Day:
Each
person deserves a day away in which no problems are confronted, no solutions
searched for. Each of us needs to withdraw from the cares which will not
withdraw from us.”
