Terminology Tuesday Fouetté Raccourci
You will remember that the word raccourci means shortened (Terminology Secret
#41). Therefore, fouetté raccourci [fweh-TAY ra-koor-SEE]means
fouetté, or whipped, shortened. Hmmm.
This step is similar to a petit fouetté,
according to Gail Grant’s dictionary of ballet terms. From second position en l’air,
the working foot cuts behind the supporting leg with a bent knee. The height of
the thigh is maintained.
From the Big
Blue Book of Ballet Secrets
Terminology Secret #88:
“Fouetté raccourci means fouetté shortened.”
