Mad Monday Opposite Travel
I have mentioned equal and opposite
energy patterns often in this blog. Most of the time it has been in reference
to posing or non-moving positions. But equal and opposite energy applies to everything!
Today’s video (see the Link of the Day below) shows how this
energy should be used in traveling or connecting movements. It’s fun to
add a prop to help dancers actually feel the pull of an opposite force.
Especially when there is a problem with
a step or set of steps, it helps to consider where opposing energy should be applied.
Often dancers aren’t using any, so there’s no opposite or balancing force, and
that’s the root of the problem.
