Sunday Matters
Here we are in the lovely spring month of May. A time for
graduations, proms, anniversaries, final exams and deadlines. Hmmmm. Those last
two certainly seem to take the joy out of springtime and ramp up the stress
levels.
The stress is usually caused by looking at your life and focusing
on a growing laundry list of things to do that appear more and more impossible.
Then the stress level goes even higher – along with the laundry.
It helps to
stop thinking about what you are going to do with your life and focus on what is
happening right now, at this moment.
When stressful thoughts creep back in (and they will, those pesky things), ask
yourself this famous question: “Will this matter in five years (or ten, or
twenty)?” This will help you focus on the
things that are really important and relax about all those other things you
were stressing about.
So, are you chasing after things you hope will give you an
incredible future, and ignoring everything beautiful and wonderful in your life
at this moment in time? Yes, we must plan for the future, but in doing so we
must not forget to enjoy what we have in our life right now.
