Silly
Saturday Elevator
An
interesting and fun way to feel different energy patterns is to try balancing
in a moving elevator. Often elevators even have a kind of barre on the walls.
Try
balancing in retiré when the elevator is going down, and feel the movement down
as you are lifting the body up. It’s fun! Then try the reverse. You might learn
a couple of new sensations that can help your technique.
It’s also
fun if you are with another dancer and you have a little friendly competition
to see who can balance longer when the elevator is moving.
Of course,
it goes without saying that the elevator should be occupied only by dancers
when you do this.

“Life is
like an elevator. On your way up, sometimes you have to stop and let some
people off.”
