Mad Monday Magnification

Mad Monday Magnification

I’ve blogged many times about energy patterns: how they are equal and opposite, and how the energy is constant. Not only that, the energy needs to radiate in all directions.

Here is another thought: imagine that all movements are magnified – just like being seen under a magnifying glass. This is especially true onstage, since everything must be bigger than life in order to be seen by audience members in the balcony.

Magnify everything: step out further, expand the port de bras, lengthen the extended leg, etc. Once you start thinking about it there’s no end to the possibilities of magnification.

From the Big Blue Book of Ballet Secrets:

Ballet Secret #7eee:
“Magnify all movements.”

Quote of the Day:
“Because we are always growing, life compounds and magnifies what is already in us.”
