Super Sunday One
Here we are in the thick of holiday preparations and
performances. It feels overwhelming sometimes, doesn’t it? Well, here is a
thought that might help.
Focus on one goal at a
time. Although we live in a society that extols the virtues of multi-tasking,
we are actually not efficient at all when we try to do that. Instead, slow down
and select one goal. This single goal
becomes your focus.
If you are performing soon, focus on enjoying the
performance. You’ve done all the preparations, all the rehearsals – right? Now
is the time to focus on one thing: enjoy the excitement of the performance.
When all the performing is over and it is back-to-class time,
pick one goal to work on: relaxing your pliés, improving your extension, adding
another pirouette, etc. Whatever it is, focus on one goal at a time.
From the Big Blue Book of Ballet Secrets:
Ballet Secret #95:
“ Focus on one goal at a time.”
