Tuesday Tracking
Yesterday I talked about tendus and the imaginary magnetic
track that runs under the floor. Today
I’m going to add another element: a
track that runs down the foot. This is a double track,
like a railroad track, with two rails:
one on each side on the foot.
When stretching the foot, the stretching sensation should
feel equal on both tracks.
Unfortunately, it is easy to stretch the pinky toe side of the foot
further than the big toe side, and this produces the dreaded sickled foot.
Instead, always
imagine stretching down the railroad track, putting equal energy on each rail,
and extending that energy onward to infinity.
From the Big Blue Book of Ballet Secrets:
Secret #4g:
“Imagine a railroad track that runs on each side of the foot, and
always stretch equally down each rail when pointing the foot.”

Quote
of the Day:
“Real, constructive
mental power lies in the creative thought that shapes your destiny, and your
hour-by-hour mental conduit produces power for change in your life. Develop a train of thought on which to
ride. The mobility of your life as well
as your happiness depends upon the direction in which that train of thought is
going.
