Wild Wednesday Pre-Pirouette
Promenades are handy little items. Not only
are they beautiful on their own, they can also serve as great training wheels
for turns. After all, a promenade is really just a slow, sustained turn.
Therefore, whenever you are working on
perfecting any turn – from pirouettes to attitude turns to turns in second – start by doing the turn as a promenade. Begin
from the preparatory position, move through the extension of the working leg and
finally into the turning position itself. See the Link of the Day below for examples.
As an added bonus, doing it this way creates a level of comfort and helps overcome the “fear factor” that
turns sometimes generate.
