Fun Friday Spear

Fun Friday Spear

Today’s Link of the Day is a fine example of grand jetés and how the front leg should behave.

The front, or leading leg must go straight out, parallel to the floor – like a spear or dart being thrown. If the spear is directed toward the ground, that’s where it will go – straight down where it jams into the earth. This is not where a dancer wants to go.

Think of your leading leg as a spear and send it out - strong, level and parallel to the floor.

From the Big Blue Book of Ballet Secrets
Ballet Secret #15ggg:
“In grand jetés, think of your leg as a spear.”

Quote of the Day:
We often throw rocks not realizing that they’re going to land somewhere.”
