Wild Wednesday Front or Back

Wild Wednesday Front or Back

Beats are accomplished with both feet. Dancers learn this early. But sometimes it helps to think about it differently.

Usually, in an entrechat quatre, we think of the front foot beating back and returning to the front, even though both feet are (or should be) beating.

If beats are a problem, try reversing the psychology: think of the back foot coming to the front and returning to the back. This reverse psychology works in other beats too.

Try it – but always with the understanding that both feet actually beat.

From the Big Blue Book of Ballet Secrets
Secret #15yyy:
“Think of your back foot coming to the front to beat instead focusing on the front foot.”
