Outside the Box

Outside the Box

Dancers learn early about their imaginary square or box.  They also learn how to properly face the “corner of the box”, and not the corner of the room or stage.  Dancers are never allowed to leave home without their imaginary box.

But to foster creativity and inspiration, you must step away from the box!  In other words, do something that is outside  of your comfort zone.  Be brave, push the limits just a bit.  This allows growth, and makes you feel good and empowered, too.

So do something today that is outside your imaginary box.

From the Big Blue Book of Ballet Secrets:

Motivational Secret #9:
“Do something outside of the box – outside your comfort zone.”

Quote of the Day:
“All work and no play doesn’t just make Jill and Jack dull, it kills the potential of discovery, mastery, and openness to change and flexibility and it hinders innovation and invention.”
