Saturday Turn Around Rule
When dancers travel across the floor
(usually diagonally), it can be hazardous if they stop moving or (gasp!) turn
around and go back – or, (double gasp!) back
up. This is usually done in an attempt to fix something, or have another
chance at a set of pirouettes or the like.
Don’t do it! If dancers turn around or
back up they are apt to crash into the oncoming dancers, or at the very least, distract
them from what they are doing. Neither scenario is safe. And most rules of
classroom etiquette are designed with safety in mind.
Always continue to move across the
floor, no matter what happens in the combination or what you’d like to “do over”.
Fix it the next time around.

“Never turn around and go back during an across-the-floor
