Terminology Tuesday Dos Au Public
The term dos au public [doh oh pew-BLEEK] means that the dancer’s back is
facing the audience.
Now, this is something that doesn’t
happen often, since dancers are always taught that they should seldom, if ever,
turn their back on the audience. But there are occasions, like an extended
pose or tableau of several dancers when the performer may have his/her back
turned for an extended period.
So, just in case you need it, there’s a
term for it: dos au public.
