Mad Monday Flex
It is much easier to feel rotation in
the hip socket when the working foot is flexed. It’s one of the mysterious
things about ballet.
Therefore, it can be beneficial to add
flexed foot positions at barre, starting with tendus. It can also involve actually
turning the leg in and out while the working foot is flexed, having the students
concentrate on what it feels like to fully rotate the leg in the hip socket.
Then have them try to feel the same thing with the foot pointed.
Have fun with turnout and flexed feet!
