Saturday Dance Superstition
Dance performances and flowers go hand
in hand. For example, those memorable curtain calls where a large bouquet is
presented to the leading ballerina and she selects a single rose, kisses it,
and gives it to her partner. Ahhhh….
But there is a superstition surrounding
flowers and performers. It is bad luck to give flowers to a dancer before she/he goes onstage. Presumably
it’s tempting fate.
However, back in history, there were
some flowers that were said to impart extremely good luck to a performer,
regardless of when they were given. There’s only one catch: those flowers had
to be stolen from a graveyard.
