Wacky Wednesday Appealing
Today I’m going
to revisit that fun step known as temps de cuisse. You may remember Ballet
Secret #15y: Temps de cuisse means
“thigh movement”; and this is true. But the main focus of a temp de cuisse
is on the working foot, and how it moves from fifth to fifth by peeling away from the floor. One could
even say it is an a-peeling (appealing) step.
The foot moves like peeling a stamp off an envelope. (Does
anyone use stamps and envelopes anymore?) Anyway, the working foot moves like pulling
that stamp off that you stuck there and then immediately decided to remove
(maybe you wrote the wrong address…).
The operative word here is “peel”. It assures a fully pointed foot before it leaves the ground.
