Mad Monday Golf
How are golf and ballet related? Usually it is due to the shape of the working leg and foot (gasp!), when the foot sickles and the whole thing resembles a golf club instead of a lovely turned-out balletic leg.
Golf-club syndrome is caused by a lack of rotation in the hip socket, and excessive energy on the outside of the working leg down through the pointed foot. This excess energy causes the foot to sickle and the lack of rotation causes the whole leg to turn in. VoilĂ ! A golf club.
Golf clubs, with their sickled shape, are perfect for hitting golf balls – but this shape has no place in ballet, since we never have to hit any golf balls.

“The working leg should not look like
a golf club.”
