Super Saturday Flopping Statute

Super Saturday Flopping Statute

Here we go again with yet another Ballet Statute. Those things that are strictly enforced and without exception in ballet technique.  Yesterday I mentioned this statute in the blog about glissades:  There is no flopping in ballet.

Flopping can take many forms:  a flopping foot, flopping arms, flopping hands, even flopping hair. Not to mention flopping down on the floor or flopping against the barre. No flopping! All are prohibited and could provoke a visit from the dreaded Ballet Police, and a sentence to the Ballet Dungeon.

So guard against flopping. The best way to do this is to send energy out in all directions. See previous blogs:

From the Big Blue Book of Ballet Secrets:

Ballet Statute #30:
“There is no flopping in ballet.”
