Sunday Helping

Sunday Helping

In the same category as being kind, today’s thought involves helping.  Helping others can involve doing big things – like changing a tire for a stranded motorist – or the more easily achieved small things.  Big or small doesn’t matter as much as the actual act of helping.

Small helping things can include opening a door, carrying a package, saying thank you, or even a sincere smile.  That smile may help someone in ways we can only imagine, especially if the person happened to be having one of the worst days of their life.  Smiling at them may be the most helpful and wonderful thing you can do.

Another helpful thing that people grossly underestimate is listening.  Listening!  I mean really listening and paying attention.  This simple act can help someone more than you might expect.  Don’t try to solve their problems, just hear them out.  It is a powerful thing.

So remember to help someone today.  Immediately the world will be a better place.

From the Big Blue Book of Ballet Secrets:

Motivational Secret #28:
“Help others whenever you can, and in any way you can, however small it may seem.”

No one is useless in this world who lightens the burden of another.”
