Saturday and Stuff on Head

Saturday and Stuff on Head
I’ve talked before about the necessity of “pulling up” from the top of the head as an essential element of correct posture.  Another thing that helps a dancer’s postural alignment is to imagine balancing an object  on top of the head.
Of course this only works for upright positions, but it is still useful.  The “something” can be a glass of water, a tomato (see cat above), a book, etc.  Anything at all.
This image can be combined with the idea of pulling up from the top of head for maximum impact.

From the Big Blue Book of Ballet Secrets:

Secret #1t:
“Imagine an object balanced on top of the head.”
