Fun Friday Laser Beam

Fun Friday Laser Beam

Ahhhhh those wonderful glissades. For those of you who cook, a glissade is as useful and essential as all-purpose flour. It is used in almost everything.

But there are problems with glissades. The biggest one is the second foot.  This foot often doesn’t get fully stretched and (gasp!) just flops along until it reunites with the first foot in fifth or (some other position) at the conclusion of the glissade. Pity the poor second foot. It is ignored all too often, so no wonder it just drags along.

Well, today it isn’t going to be ignored. Instead, imagine that this second foot has a super power:  a strong laser beam. This beam shoots outward from the toes, and helps propel the step as well as instantly getting the foot fully pointed. Very useful.

Laser powered glissades. Every dancer should have them.

From the Big Blue Book of Ballet Secrets:

Ballet Secret #13l:
Imagine a laser beam shooting out from your second foot in a glissade.
