Mad Monday Long Spine
I’ve talked before about how the famous
dancer Nijinsky was said to be able to “pause in the air”. Of course this was a
wonderful illusion and there are ways to create it yourself.
One secret is to lengthen your spine at that split-second peak of the jump (without arching your back). This
means leaving a smidgen of space in your sensation of “pulling up” so you can
add that extra length at the top. This creates that momentary illusion that you
are stopping mid-air. How cool is that?!

Ballet Secret #15eee:
“Lengthen your spine at the peak of a jump.”

Quote of the Day:
“If
something is there, you can only see it with your eyes open, but if it isn't
there, you can see it just as well with your eyes closed. That's why imaginary
things are often easier to see than real ones.”
