Throwback Thursday and Rainbow Dance
The film Rainbow Dance was produced in 1936 and mixed music, choreography and movement patterns, along with a mixture of bright colors. Such a movie was rather
extraordinary for its time.
Directed by Len Lye this “film ballet”
followed his movie A Colour Box
(1935). According to https://www.bfi.org.uk/news-opinion/news-bfi/lists/36-amazing-dance-scenes,
Lye experimented with the performer, setting and camera as well as the means of
reproducing film itself.
As you can see in the Link of the Day below, the results are
a combination of poster art, dance and surrealism.
