Wacky Wednesday Water

Wacky Wednesday Water

Here is a collection of all the Ballet Secrets (so far) that involve some sort of water imagery:

1dd. Imagine opening the collarbones to allow them to collect rainwater.
1gg. Imagine a glass of water balanced on each shoulder.
1yy. Imagine a waterfall flowing from the earlobes down the neck to the shoulders.
6t. When standing underneath the water in a shower, if the arms are correctly shaped in à la seconde, the water will run down the arm and off the first finger.
6n. “Imagine the arms as hoses, and allow a continuous flow of water through them and out of the fingertips.”
7kk. Imagine your whole body sparkling, like sun on water.
18a.  In an attitude devant, imagine balancing a glass of water on the working foot.
18e.  To increase extension in an attitude devant, imagine a glass of water on the working heel with a bent straw in it.  Lift the leg high enough to sip the drink.

Here is another one for today: To develop the correct resistance for any movement, try practicing in a swimming pool, or imagine how it feels to move through water.

Happy summer swimming!

From the Big Blue Book of Ballet Secrets
Secret #1bbb:
“Imagine moving through water, and/or practice movements in a swimming pool.”

Link of the Day:

Quote of the Day:
“Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass under trees on a summer's day, listening to the murmur of the water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is by no means a waste of time.”
― John Lubbock, The Use Of Life
