Mad Monday Ovals and Diamonds

Mad Monday Ovals and Diamonds

When the arms are in fifth en haut (high fifth), the arms should make a perfect oval shape. It is as though the face is framed in a lovely, old-fashioned oval picture frame.

But often the oval shape is not realized, and instead, a diamond shape is created. Not good. Diamonds are wonderful in their place, but fifth en haut isn’t it. A diamond shape happens when the elbows are bent instead of lengthened, and the curved nature of the shape is lost.

Instead, the elbows and the arms must elongate until the perfect oval shape is formed. This is done by spending some time in front of a mirror to establish how the arms feel in the correct configuration.

Ovals,  not diamonds!
