Mad Monday Chaîné Foot Focus

Mad Monday Foot Focus

You will remember Ballet Secret #14e: The leading foot in a chaîné must always fall in line with the intended ending location.” Today’s idea is similar.

During a series of chaîné turns, there is a tendency for the straight-across-the-room (or stage) path to deviate, or get wonky. Ballet Secret #14e will help, as will today’s Ballet Secret 14kkk: Use the leading foot as a reminder to spot and re-intensify the focus. Dizziness results when the eye focus disappears into a fog. Scary. Especially onstage.

The leading foot is a great reminder, not only in rhythm and in placement of the foot in a line leading to the destination, but also a reminder to concentrate intensely on the spotting focus.

Today’s Link of the Day provides other tips for chaînés.

From the Big Blue Book of Ballet Secrets
Secret #14kk:
“The leading foot in chaînés coordinates with the spotting of the head.”
