Statute
We are all
familiar with computer upgrades that go by the numbers: 2.0, 2.5, 3.0 or something
like Windows 10 etc. Well, this constant numerical upgrading doesn’t work well
in the ballet world.
Case in
point: Second position. There is never a Second 2.5 – an upgrade that causes
the feet to go beyond 180 degrees. Ouch! Yet, this happens, especially during
grand plié. Those feet slide backwards and suddenly it’s Second 2.5 – more than
the original and worse, much worse.
Never, accidentally or on purpose, take your second position beyond its control zone.
Beware of second 2.5!
