Wild Wednesday Magic Torso

Wild Wednesday Magic Torso

Consider the torso. It is a critical area for everything, especially turns. Teacher often tell students to “engage the core”, or “pull up”, or “use the abdominals”. All good suggestions as long as the student understands what is meant. That’s the tricky part.

These energy patterns are especially important for pirouettes, since the force of the turn itself can rapidly unbalance the whole operation if the “core” isn’t held securely, and/or the "zippers" aren't engaged, and the energy up, down and out doesn’t happen.

It all comes down to the magic torso. It must be supported, and the energy (see many, many previous blogs) must be felt and sent in the appropriate directions. Today’s link is a great way to understand this, and it involves things I have blogged about before.

Torso energy!
