Wacky Wednesday Level-Headed

Wacky Wednesday Level-Headed

During pirouettes, or any turns for that matter, it is important that the head remain level. A common problem dancers have is what I refer to as “over-spotting”, when the head stays too long and the eyes focus too long at the spotting target. This results in the head tilting. Dancers are such great over-achievers!

Practice spotting by standing and turning slowly on two feet, making sure that the head remains level. Resist the urge to tilt it. Learn the precise moment the snap of the head must occur – not too soon, and not too late.

Sometimes simply thinking about keeping a level head is all it takes.

Hmmm. Keeping a level head in life is a good idea too!

Secret #14hh:
“Remain level headed during a pirouette.”
