Sunday Dreams and Work

Sunday Dreams and Work

Recently I read an article about writers and how many hours the successful ones work at their craft. The results weren’t really surprising. The writers who actually make a living at it work forty or more hours per week writing.

This probably is no surprise to dancers. We learn early that more work equals more accomplishment. But it is easy to get discouraged, whether one is a writer or a dancer. Sometimes it seems that all that work is getting us nowhere. What to do?

All those hours do produce results (dreams). It’s just hard to see when you are in the midst of it. Look back a few years and remember how far you’ve come. This extra perspective is often what is needed to fuel continued motivation.

Secret #178:
“Dreams don’t work unless you do.”

“If you are going to achieve excellence in big things, you develop the habit in little matters. Excellence is not an exception, it is a prevailing attitude.”
