Technical Tuesday Glow

Technical Tuesday Glow

You are probably aware of creatures that glow, like fireflies and jellyfish, but did you know that humans can also glow?

It’s called bioluminescence, and it exists in most living creatures. It is a natural byproduct of the metabolic process. But it wasn’t until recently – 2009 – that Japanese researchers captured this glow on film.

This bioluminescence works on a 24 hour cycle, and it at its brightest in the late afternoon, and appears most prominently on the cheeks, forehead and neck (see above).

So when someone compliments your performance and says you were so radiant that you appeared to be glowing, they were correct!

From the Big Blue Book of Ballet Secrets
Secret #:
“Humans can actually glow.”
