Fun Friday Three Rules

Fun Friday Three Rules

There is a saying in the world of real estate that there are three rules to keep in mind when buying property: location, location, location. This is because you can change a structure, but you can’t change the neighborhood.

That being said, it occurred to me that there are also three rules in dance, and three rules in ballet. For dance in general it would be: posture, posture, posture. But specifically for ballet the three rules would be: rotate, rotate, rotate.

The reasoning here is pretty straightforward. Without correct posture, (in any dance genre), everything else suffers and will be wrong. In ballet, without rotation (from the hip sockets) everything will suffer and be wrong.

Always remember the three rules!

From the Big Blue Book of Ballet Secrets:

Ballet Secret # 26g:
“The three rules of ballet are: rotate, rotate, rotate.”
